- S: Perfectly sensible. The movie almost feels like a documentary at times it is so closely melded to the reality it takes place in.
- C: The film is full of incredible shots. Costuming is great, and makeup is excellent especially for wounds. However, there is a strange transition
from the present to the past early in the film, and a very bizarre camera sweep to a thermostat from Abou Tarek when he's reading a letter. Also, there are moments where
the camera lingers on a shot or a place for a bit too long.
- E: The film starts off very slow, too slow. However, the escalation to the climactic ending is well worth the wait. Great music, framing, and acting all
really help seal the tone and pacing of the ending.
- N: This story is so incredible. It almost reads like a documentary. The political, horrifying drama makes for a very memorable watch.
- T: The film received three bonus points: one for a great shot of a smoldering building at the bottom of a canyon, one for an unforgettable shot of a tattoo over the edge of a pool,
and one for the gut-wrenching view of wounded feet in a prison.
Great film, great story, but a bit too long. However, patience during the slow start is rewarded handsomely by the middle and ending. The film has some mistakes, but
it also has some of the most memorable shots from all the films I've ever seen.
