- Sensibility: The friendship journey is a bit odd, and the timeline makes things a bit hard to contextualize, but otherwise a very sensible portrayal of youth.
- Cinematography: Great costuming and production design. The clothing styles and housing and props all do an amazing job of showing the cultural and age differences among the different people. Framing is very good and enhances the youthful feeling of the film. Only negative is that lighting is fairly monochrome throughout.
- Energy: Very fun roller-coaster ride of a movie, just like being a kid.
- Narrative: The film is a great story that really captures all the joy, anxiety, angst, and fun of being a kid. Also perfectly encapsulates that late early 2000s feel with the Internet, chat rooms, and cell phones. Nostalgic, heartwarming, and fun. Only downside is an ending that feels abrupt and maybe a little lacking in finesse.
- T-Points: The film received three bonus points: one for a scene in a kitchen at a party where a friend calls Chris at his request, one for the AoL messenger chats, and one for the mother's "you are my dream" speech.
Great film that has so much going for it. Beautifully portrays a middle class immigrant experience and young boyhood.
