- S: The laws of this after-life universe seem to bend/flex to fit the narrative, but perhaps that is sort-of the point.
- C: Incredibly strong stylistically. Although some of the visual effects are a bit dated, it almost adds to the character of the film.
- E: Non-stop crazy activity with nuggets of thought-provoking mysticism.
- N: The main characters don't feel very important. The main premise of the film is weak, as it doesn't make sense that the dead would want to maintain their house
when they physically cannot do so. However, the film is full of such strong side characters that it makes up for this.
- T: The film received two bonus points: one for a great score/soundtrack, Danny Elfman strikes again, and one for the dinner table dance scene.
The movie is obviously strange, but it is so stylistically strong and full of character that it's a great watch. This film appeals to all kinds of movie-watchers, even the most
obnoxious/pretentious type critics like myself, because the film can be viewed through the lense that it is a portrayal of Burton's view of the after-life. The film has an underlying mysticism
and a very over-lying style that makes this film the classic that it is.
